Biographical/Historical Note

Walter Blackstock was a poet born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1917. He graduated with an AB from the University of Georgia in 1942, graduated from Vanderbilt University with an AM in 1944, and graduated from Yale University with a Ph.D. in 1952.


Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of manuscript versions of poems from Walter Blackstock's book Quest for Beauty deposited with the Library in February of 1943. Also included is a brief review, a letter to Library director Yenawine, and a photograph of Blackstock, University of Georgia class of 1942.
