Abstract:The collection consists of two letters of John Marshall Slaton to his father, Major William Franklin Slaton, dated 1883 and 1886. The former is a typescript telling of his arrival in Athens (Ga.) to attend the University of Georgia and describes his living arrangements and dormitories at the University. The latter also contains University information.

Biographical/Historical Note

John Marshall Slaton (1866-1955) was the son of William Franklin and Nancy Martin Slaton and husband of Sally Francis Grant. He was a University of Georgia student and then Governor of Georgia (1913-1915).
