John Lumsden Hardeman was born November 12, 1851. He was a member of the Demosthinian Literary Society at the University of Georgia and graduated in 1871. Hardeman married Fannie E. Ross of Macon, Ga., on April 20, 1875. In his professional life he taught school and was a lawyer.
Frank Twitty was in the University of Georgia class of 1889 and was later a physician in Camilla, Georgia.
The collection consists of one letter from John Lumsden Hardeman to Frank Twitty stating that the founding of the Demosthenian Literary Society took place in 1801.
