Duncan Burnet was born in 1876 and became the Librarian for the University of Georgia in 1904. He was the first professional librarian hired by the University of Georgia.
The collection consists of records of a series of talks on books and reading sponsored by the University of Georgia Library in the winter and spring of 1936. The collection includes notices, posters, lists of those attending, and notes concerning the meetings and some of the speeches. Mr. Duncan Burnet, Librarian, Miss Charlotte Newton, and Miss Elizabeth LaBoone were the primary participants.
