The collection consists of seven diaries of William J. Dickey, owner of Dickey Plantation, Thomas County, Georgia, covering the years 1858-1859 and 1879-1889. The entries discuss agricultural matters including planting and harvesting of crops, including cotton and corn; killing hogs; weather conditions; and family matters. No diaries exist for the years 1860-1878, January 11, 1880-1883. Also includes an 1871 plat map of the Dickey Plantation (later known as Birdsong Plantation) and a 1959 copy of same.
