Biographical/Historical Note

Travis M. Rhodes was a young soldier from Georgia during World War II. While he did not apparently serve oversees, he did work for the Air Corp in a variety of locations throughout the United States.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of letters from Travis M. Rhodes to his sweetheart, "Margie" in Valdosta, Georgia while he was serving stateside during World War II. The letters often describe what is occurring at his base and apologize for not having more time to write, along with other similar domestic subjects. The letters begin from his base at the Air Corp Technical School in Kessler Field, Mississippi and later are written from bases in Chanute Field, Illinois; Salina, Kansas; and Riverside, California.
