Biographical/Historical Note

Fort Benning, located near Columbus, GA, was established in October 1918.

Mothers of both white and colored troops were invited to visit their sons at Fort Benning May 8-10, 1942. During this time, the mothers were interviewed by radio station WRBL, treated to meals in their honor, and observed tank and parachutist demonstrations.


The scrapbook remains in its original arrangement.
