Biographical/Historical Note

Virgil Perry (1828-1907) served in the Havis Battery, Georgia Artillery during the Civil War. He was married to Caroline Perry (1824-1896).


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of letters, receipts, and clippings from Virgil Perry and his family. The majority of collection is comprised of letters from Virgil Perry to his wife during his time as a soldier in the Civil War. The letters hail mainly from Georgia and Tennessee and include post-Civil War letters from Athens and Atlanta.
