Biographical/Historical Note

John S. Moon is a folk artist and poet. He was born on March 19, 1948 in Barrow County, Georgia. He grew up on a farm sharecropping. Later in life, Mr. Moon moved to Athens, Georgia where he started doing custodial work. Mr. Moon was determined to continue his education, which stopped in the sixth grade. He earned his GED through adult education classes in 1986. Mr. Moon then went on to take private tutoring, where he discovered his love and talent for writing. his first assignment resulted in the story of Parajug who sailed to Cuba. This lead to other books which he self-published.

Mr. Moon's desire to share his work with others extended to gift books sent to dignitaries around the world. Some have been translated into French, Spanish, and Swahili. He has received thank you letters from Mother Teresa, President Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth, King Hussein, President Carter, and Hillary Clinton.
