James Mathew Mayne was born in 1855 in Bishop, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1880 and entered the Civil Engineering Department of the East Tenn.and Ga. R.R., and later became the County School Commissioner of Oconee County, Georgia. He married Sallie E. Woodis in 1885.
The collection consists of one plat with a text reading "Georgia, Oconee, Co. The above Plat represents a tract of Land near Barnett Shoals (being a part of the Tindal Place) belonging to A.S. and J.T. Ward, containing 114 33/100 Acres. Surveyed by James M. Mayne Dec 11th 1891." It is on ruled paper.
