Williamson S. Stuckey Jr. was born in Eastman, Dodge County, Georgia, on May 25, 1935. He graduated from Woodward Academy in 1952 and the University of Georgia in 1956. He became the president of Stuckey's Stores from 1958 to 1966 and was president of Stuckey's Pecan company the same years. He was a member of the U. S. House of Representatives for Georgia from 1967-1977, and he was also the chairman of Stuckey's Corporation from 1985 to the present. He is a resident of Eastman, Georgia.
He collected historical documents from famous figures, ranging from Thomas Jefferson to Andrew Jackson to Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Alexander Stephens. These are all great historical figures in American history - influential, powerful, prominent. The documents they have written and signed show their signatures and their impact on American history.
The collection consists of letters and documents bearing the signatures of Jefferson Davis, John Hancock, Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson, Robert E. Lee, and Alexander H. Stephens. Also included are an etching of Andrew Jackson and engravings of Thomas Jefferson and Robert E. Lee.
