|Abstract:||The collection consists of papers of George Rockingham Gilmer for 1827 and 1858. The collection includes a journal, written by Gilmer, detailing a trip he and his wife took to Virginia in 1858. Written in heroic couplet, the journal describes their travels, friends, relatives, and activities during the trip. The collection also contains two letters containing biographical information on Gilmer, and a 1827 land grant signed by Gilmer.|
