William L. McCormick was a lieutenant in the 139th Regiment, Company E.
The collection consists of one 4-page letter, framed. It is dated August 7, 1863 from Camp West near Williamsburg, Virginia and is addressed to McCormick's sister, Emily. In it, Lt. McCormick relates that he is bored, but that his duty is difficult. After that, the text mostly concerns family business, including McCormick's disapproval that Emily did not go visit the Willis family when she was last in New York City.
