The Middle Georgia Horticultural Society was organized July 20, 1887 at Vineyard Station near Griffin, Georgia (Spalding County).
The collection consists of a minute book containing the constitution, by-laws and minutes of the society from 1887-1890. The minutes are handwritten and in newspaper clippings. In addition to discussions regarding the growing of fruit, flowers, and vegetables, the names of members and officers are given. There is also some information in the February 12, 1889 minutes about the society's attempts to get the Georgia Experiment Station to locate in Spalding County.
