James Henry Moser was a multi-award-winning American artist known for his landscapes, portraits and also his celebrated illustrations in Uncle Remus: His Songs and His Sayings (1881). A prolific and versatile artist, he produced works in pen and ink, oil, pastel, and watercolor. Moser even produced exquisite miniature paintings, sometimes as small as one by three inches. Augusta "Gussie" Moser was the sister of James Henry Moser.
The collection consists of one handwritten manuscript notebook "published" by the Fern Literary Society. The first set of writings are from v. 3, no. 11, December 1875. The literature contained was written by several authors including Mary L. Coulter, Gussie Moser, Butler Trevitt, James H. Moser, and edited by Alice White. The last entry is v. 4, no. 6, July 1876.
