Founded in 1969, Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), designs and conducts professional research for a variety of clients, from television and radio networks to producers of paper products, cleaners, and candy. A significant share of SRI's work has been in media audience measurement. In an arena where survey results are used to buy and sell millions of dollars in advertising, SRI has earned a reputation for accuracy and thoroughness. Since 1972, SRI has conducted the RADAR (Radio's All Dimension Audience Research) study - the only measurement of national network radio audience delivery. And SRI is the creator and manager of S℗ʺM℗ʺA℗ʺR℗ʺT (Systems for Measuring and Reporting Television), an innovative TV ratings system sponsored by more than 25 telecasters, advertisers, and advertising agencies. Arbitron, Inc. purchased the RADAR (Radio's All Dimension Audience Research) measurement service in 2001.
The collection consists of reports and presentations that document the research conducted by Statistical Research, Inc. on how people use TV. Television audiences are examined along with studies on placement of televisions in children's bedrooms, TV usage in local markets, TV ownership, VCR usage, and television ratings.
