Abstract:The collection consists of a page headed "Records of the Court" listing the accounts of the estate of Daniel Saunders, probably of Thomas County, Georgia. Administrator of the estate was Harriet Saunders. Included are the names of slaves hired 1835-1836 in accounts with John C. Browning and Shadrach Atkinson. The accounts are dated March 1837.

Biographical/Historical Note

Daniel Saunders was a citizen of rural Georgia who owned numerous slaves. He was well off enough to hire out several slaves for cash. He had family who helped manage his estate and do administrative tasks for him.
