Shirley E. Maddison (PhD), employed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in Durban, South Africa, was awarded a United States of America Public Healch Service Post Doctoral Fellowship which she held at the Center for Communicable Diseases in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 1964 to March 1966. Her goal during her fellowship was to learn new techniques for isolating relative proteins and carbohydrates for the serodiagnosis of parasitic diseases.
The collection consists of a scrapbook recording Shirley E. Maddison's social activities in Atlanta (where she was a post doctoral fellow from 1964-1966) and brief visits to Washington (DC), New Orleans, Los Angeles, Rochester (MN), Savannah, and New York. It also records activities on her automobile trips to some of these destinations. The scrapbooks includes information on the CDC and theater as well as travel.
