James Henry Carter (b. 1822?) was a druggist in Savannah, Georgia. He and his wife Henrietta previously lived in Augusta, Georgia.
The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, promissory notes and legal documents. One document concerns the sale of a lot in Laurel Grove Cemetery (Savannah, Georgia) to James H. Carter. Most of the correspondence is from various law firms who are collecting debts for Carter. A letter of December 26, 1860 states that Carter and his family are leaving Savannah and moving to Texas.
