|Abstract:||The collection consists of a bound ledger book, probably belonging to John A. H. Harper, recording store and hotel accounts and register, 1837-1856. The first 24 pages contain glued-in articles and colored advertising cards of sewing and cloth items. The 1837 Elberton (Ga.) store accounts record the items purchased and names of purchasers. The Oxford Hotel entries have a few pages of register of people's names and hometowns from July 1849-51, and provisions bought for the hotel from 1851-1854. The Hunter House, Covington, Newton County (Ga.) contains entries of operational expenditures from 1853-56. There are also 3 partial letters one to Emma (Daniel) and one signed Sallie (Harper).|
John A. H. Harper of Elbert County (Ga.) married Susan Oliver on September 25, 1832.
