The collection consists of hundreds of mostly black and white photos from the 19th and early 20th century. Most of the photos are of European cities, buildings, and landscapes from England, Italy, France, Austria, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, etc. The many places depicted include Furness Abbey, Hereford Cathederal, Heidelberg Castle, the Royal Palace of Berlin, the Rhine River, and the Arc de Triomphe. All of the photos are stamped on the back "University of Georgia Libraries Humanities Division" in red ink.
This collection is arranged by the geographic location of the scene or monument depicted. Inside each box are several folders, each of which is labeled by country.
