|Abstract:||The collection consists of papers relating to the Dixon family of Meriwether County, Georgia from 1848-1863. The papers include correspondence of John L. Dixon, Joshua L. Render and his wife Mary Jane (Dixon) Render, and John Tillman Dixon. Of particular interest are three letters from John Tillman Dixon, serving with the 29th Georgia Infantry Regiment, to his sister Mary Jane, while stationed at Richmond during the Civil War. The letters mostly discuss life in Richmond and family news. The collection also contains some genealogical notes on the Dixon family.|
