Mary Jones (1808-1869), daughter of Joseph Jones and Sarah Anderson, married her first cousin Charles Colcock Jones of Liberty County, Ga., in 1830. -- Clarke, Erskine. Dwelling Place. p. 488.
Susan Mary Jones married first James Audley Maxwell, after his death she was remarried to Joseph Cumming in 1838.
The collection consists of one letter written by Mary Jones, wife of Rev. Dr. Charles Colcock Jones of Liberty County, Georgia. The letter, addressing "My Dear Sister" possibly is meant for Mary Jones' sister-in-law Susan Mary (Jones) (Maxwell) Cumming. Mrs. Jones writes from Philadelphia where her family relocated after her husband accepted a position on the Presbyterian Board of Missions in 1850. In the letter she discusses her sewing, vacation, visitors, and the health of her family.
