|Abstract:||The collection mainly consists of correspondence from Ernest Bloch to his friend, Samuel Laderman from 1950-1958. The letters discuss all aspects of his musical life, including composing, teaching, performing, and recording. Block also discusses other musicians and conductors and their works, as well as philosophizing about music and the world. Also includes autographed photographs of Bloch and the original autographed manuscript of the orchestral score for his "Proclamation for Trumpet Solo and Orchestra."|
Ernest Bloch (1880-1959) was an American composer of Swiss origin. He spent his last eighteen years in Agate Beach, Oregon.
