Biographical/Historical Note

Charles H. Jameson was a soldier for the US Army during World War II. He was selected for high basic language skills and aptitude as part of a group that would listen to Japanese transmissions and report on them. He had previously studied French, German, and Spanish at Stanford and earned a degree in Economics. Jameson also learned Italian at Amherst, gained skills in code-breaking, and was promoted to Corporal at Bomb Disposal School. He served with the 3199th Signal Service Battalion in India.


Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of a 24 page typescript copy of Charles H. Jameson's experiences during World War II.
