Webb (Black) Garrison, D. D., Litt. D., was born in Covington, Georgia, in 1919. He served as pastor and assistant dean of Emory University's School of Theology. He was also an author and freelance journalist.
The collection consists of materials and correspondence relating to various works by Webb Garrison. Included are an original typescript of "Oglethorpe's Folly : The Birth of Georgia", a photocopy as circulated for pre-publication appraisal, printer's galleys, page proofs, one copy of the first printing (identified by missing art, page 17 - about 150 copies were circulated before the error was found and corrected), one copy of the corrected second printing, other copies, reviews and appraisals, a manuscript and 13-part condensation, and a condensation as published in the Savannah Morning News. Also included are materials relating to Garrison's "Civil War Trivia and Fact Book," such as a published copy, a manuscript, corrected proofs, a bibliography file, a picture/cutline file and a "side copy" file. There is also an article by Garrison entitled "Pilot Lingo", which appeared in the publication Air Line Pilot in April 1992.
