Abstract:The collection consists of three letters and two postcards written by or concerning Leslie D. Hedges. Three pieces of correspondence are written from Hedges to his wife Pearl while he was in training at various military posts during World War II. Two pieces of correspondence were written to Pearl Hedges after he was killed in 1944 in an air accident in the United States.

Biographical/Historical Note

Leslie D. Hedges and his wife Pearl Hedges were from Richmond, Indiana. Leslie was in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as an aviation cadet. He was killed in a plane crash at an airfield in Georgia in 1944. Before his death, he wrote Pearl, his wife, often and sent her postcards while in the service, remarking on his experiences and pining for her and home.
