Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of financial papers and correspondence of Paul Rapelye, general merchant, Savannah, Georgia, from 1813-1822. Financial papers include sales receipts, bills of lading, and invoices documenting purchases made by Rapelye (mostly textiles); several documenting goods, largely textiles, shipped from Liverpool, England, to Savannah, Georgia, aboard the ship Oglethorpe. Correspondence addressed to Rapeleye mainly regards trade and commerce. Two letters, personal in nature, are from his cousin.
