|Abstract:||The collection consists of two diaries, correspondence, and photographs of Perry J. Shearouse with Company A of the 363rd Engineer Regiment of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1944-1946. In the diaries (September 1944 - January 1946), Shearouse describes the people, geography, weather conditions, flora and fauna of India and Iran as well as his daily duties and activities. He also details the trip back to the United States (October 1945) including times, distance, and locations of stops. After November 1945, the entries describe Shearouse's life in Savannah, Georgia. The correspondence, written by Shearouse to his sister Lillian Anderson, describe his life in Iran.|
