Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of two diaries kept by Perry J. Shearouse while serving with Company A of the 363rd Engineer Regiment of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1944-1946. Shearouse describes people, geography, weather conditions, flora and fauna of India and Iran, as well as his daily duties and activities. He also details the trip back to the United States, and after November 1945, diary entries describe life in Savannah, Georgia. The collection also includes a photograph and two letters from Shearouse to his sister, Lillian Anderson, describing life in Iran.
