Biographical/Historical Note

James A. Holakamp (1921-1983) was a forester and logging engineer, who organized and operated a forestry consulting service in Atlanta, Georgia (JAHCO) from 1968 until 1983 (For more biographical information see Box 95).

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains papers spanning the entire forestry career of James A. Holekamp, spanning from his school days in 1942 to his retirement from his own forestry consulting service, JAHCO, in 1983. The bulk of the collection resides in Series 1 Professional Materials and includes correspondence, reports and other work products filed by the name of the company, association, or individual Holekamp had dealings with. The collection also includes a subject file on a number of forestry topics, as well as about twenty boxes of material concerning various forestry association meetings, seminars, and workshops of the many associations Holekamp belonged to over his career, including the American Pulpwood Association and Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry. There are also several boxes of photographs and slide notebooks which depict millyards, forestry equipment, and logging activity; another significant series contains forestry-related writings and technical reports by Holekamp and others. The collection also contains blueprints and plans for mills and woodyards and a small amount of personal papers.
