|Abstract:||The collection consists of correspondence from Larry Kesler to his parents, John and Catherine Kesler, from February to June 1966. Written during Kesler's tour in Vietnam, the letters describe his flight to Vietnam; his assignment to B Battery, 6th Battalion, 15th Artillery; his base camp of Pleiku; camp life; the country side; and details of the fighting. Included within the letters are drawings of a 175mm self-propelled cannon and tank.|
Lawrence D. "Larry" Kesler was a U.S. Army soldier in Vietnam during 1966. He was in B Battery, 6th Battalion, 14th Artillery, I Field Force. He was killed in action near Pleiku in South Vietnam by multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered. He was born on November 16, 1946 and died on June 25, 1966 at the age of 19. He was a resident of La Grange, Georgia prior to service. Lawrence Kesler is honored on Panel 8E, Row 93 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
