Born in August, 1806, and dying on December 25, 1866, Stephen Elliottt was Bishop of the Diocese of Georgia and president of the Georgia Historical Society. "In 1841 Stephen Elliott Jr. was appointed the first Episcopal bishop in Georgia. During the Civil War, Elliott led the movement that formed the Episcopal Church in the Confederate States of America.
