Abstract:The collection consists of two letters from John Esten Cooke to Miss Nettie, apparently his girlfriend, from 1861-1862. The letters were written from camp near Leesburg, Virginia, while Cooke was a soldier in the Confederate States Army. He wrote of the personal relationship between he and Miss Nettie, mentions his friends General Richard S. Ewell and Mrs. Curtis, and wishes to be with Jeb Stuart.
