The collection consists of papers relating to Lt. Colonel Henry Gaither from 1792-1838. Mainly pertaining to Gaither's administration of Fort Wilkinson (Ga.), the collection includes hospital rolls, orders, receipts, and correspondence. Materials contain information on supply matters, Indian trading, medical care, military discipline, the 1802 Indian treaty, and other official matters. Notable correspondents include Howell Cobb, Hugh McCall, Benjamin Hawkins, Archibald Lee, the merchants Habersham and Company and Ferdinand Phinizy. Also included are some materials relating to Forts Fidius and Adams.
