Abstract:The collection consists of two workbooks. The first (1843-47), is from Connecticut and shows what wood working was done as well as books purchased by Nettleton. The book is a small morrocco with his name on the cover. It probably is a sample of his work. The second workbook (1847-52) includes work done in Sparta, Georgia and Augusta, Georgia. It lists books done for certain people along with the price charged and materials used.

Biographical/Historical Note

Lewis L. Nettleton was a wood worker and binder of books from Orange, Connecticut. Orange was a book making center in the 1830s and 1840s.
