Howell Cobb (1842-1909), son of General Howell Cobb, and an Athens attorney. He married Mary McKinley. He was a judge and a professor of law at the University of Georgia.
The collection consists of one document, datelined Bibb County "29th day of January 1866," is signed by Carleton B. Cole, Judge of the Superior Court of the Macon Circuit. It gives approval and admits Howell Cobb, Jr. to the Bar of the State of Georgia and assigns him "all the privileges of an attorney & counsellor & solicitor in the several courts of Law and Equity in this State." Entirely handwritten, it has the seal of Bibb County attached in the lower left corner.
