Edgare Legare Pennington was a distinguished jurist, historian, Episcopal priest and Naval chaplain. He received his B. A. from the University of Georgia in 1911 and graduated from the Law School in 1914.
The collection consists of diplomas and certificates presented to Edgar Legare Pennington during his career. Among the items included are Mr. Pennington's B. A. (1911) and B. L. (1914) from the University of Georgia, his admission to the Georgia Bar (1914), a document qualifying him as an Attorney and Counselor of the Supreme Court of the United States (1942), and his diploma from the University of the South, Sewanee, Master of Sacred Theology (1947).
