Biographical/Historical Note

Nicholas Jenson (1420-1480) was a French printer and type designer. He worked in Venice, Italy, and designed one of the first Roman type faces.


Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of various loose pages of manuscripts dating from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, some rubricated with ornate initials and borders. Eight items are on vellum, three contain musical notation, are in Latin and appear to be religious in nature. One document is a leaf from the 1479 Biblia Latina by Nicholas Jenson of Venice.
